Given the same drug, why would the onset time be different for a COPD pt. and an asthma pt?
Question:
Answers:
Asthma can be considered a type of COPD. So, the drug works in the same mechanism. However, Asthma is one of the less severe in the list of COPD diseases. Others include: It includes emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and in some cases asthma. Chronic bronchitis is inflammation and eventual scarring of the bronchi (airway tubes). Emphysema is enlargement and destruction of the alveoli (air sacs) within the lungs. Many persons with COPD have both of these conditions. Therefore, its severity is why there is a time difference.

COPD is NOT asthma nor is it a form etc....2 different diseases...They will respond differently and the time will also be different. Depends whether you have obstructive asthma, exercise, etc. there are many forms and asthmatics respond differently to all different drugs...with COPD bronchodilators tend to do the trick but with asthma steroids are commonly used....COPD pts. are not usually on a steroid for a extended period due to the disease as its very fragile...
onset time can be different for different patients based on their metabolism. it's an individual thing
