My Dad has it and I have a tiny little bit on my forearms - I bet no-one has noticed mine. Dad's has worsened over the years. His sister, my aunt also had it a bit.

vitiligo is common. There is not much you can do about it but you should have your doctor make sure your thyroid gland is functioning properly.

I have had vitiligo for 10 years now. Wow, I can't believe it's been that long. It started out on my hands and legs, and at first it REALLY freaked me out. I got made fun of in school and rumors were started that if a kid touched me, they would get vitiligo too. For three or four years, I only wore long sleeve shirts and jeans. Then I realized there is nothing that I can do about it, and people need to accept that. Some places have gotten better, but other places, like my neck, my stomach and the back of my legs have gotten worse. I wear shorts all the time. My friends think that my vitiligo is unusual and makes me unique. I really wish that I could be cured, and I am hoping one day I will not have to worry about the problems associated with vitiligo, like going out in the sun and the health problems. I personally believe that god gave me this, becasue he truly believes that I can handle it. Good luck.
