has anyone had long lasting recurring pinkeye despite treatment?

Question:
I've had off and on conjunctivitis since easter. I've been to the Dr. three times and was prescribed 3 different drops.. but it recurs almost twice a month. I haven't been able to wear my contacts or eye makeup. Last visit Dr. thought it was an allergic form, but it doesn't itch that much and never really clears all the way up. Slight crusty discharge every morning and acute episodes about every two weeks. Help... I'm frustrated!

Answers:

3. Change your pillow case every single morning.
4. Treat both eyes at the same time
5. THROW AWAY YOUR CONTACTS they have the bacteria on t
them. do not use another pair until this is cleared up
6. wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands every single time that you touch your face.
7. DO NOT ALLOW THE MEDICATION DROP TIP TO TOUCH YOUR EYE DROP THE DROPS IN

family of 4 here. we have never ever spread it around
and only takes one treatment.

Other Answers:
It is likely that you have a resistant form of bacteria. Have they done a culture? If there is something growing there, it would help to isolate it and to see its sensitivity!
If you have had it for this long, you know the drill about cleaning your sheets and pillowcases, washing your hands after touching your eyes.
Have they pursued the "allergic" angle?
Gentamycin and Garrasone are the most common antibiotics for this. Chloramphenicol is certainly the one of last resort and it works!
can't help
