Are there two types of skin, one that tans and one that just gets red?

Question: Is this the case? Also, the former seems to be much smoother while the latter tends to clog. Of course, this could be an illusion. Anyone KNOW?

Answers:
One that turns red is type 1 or 2.
One that turns tanned is type 3 onward.
