Stomach flu...better to drink Cola or Un-Cola?

Question:
I have always been told that 7-up or sprite is good, however have heard that something in dark soda like colas make it better on sick stomach. Any suggestions??

Answers:
A good rule of thumb is that if you are not puking, go with Coke. If you are puking, go with the clear stuff.

When Coke was first made, it was uncarbonated and sold as a stomach tonic, and it worked. When Coke was carbonated and sold as a soft drink, the ingredients that made Coke an effective stomach tonic were left in, so it's stomach-easing properties are still there.

It's not the cola stuff that's hard on a puking stomach, it's the caffeine. Stuff like Sprite and 7-Up are good for a sick stomach, but any soda without caffeine would do the same thing. Some people don't tolerate sugar well when their stomachs are rioting, so diet caffeine-free soda might be the way to go.

uncola
Ginger Ale is soothing
ITS BETTER TO DRINK GATORADE BECAUSE U NEED IT TO GIVE U STREIGTH! COCACOLA OR PEPSI WILL JUST NOT DO ANYTHING FOR YA!
I'm not a doctor but I say something like 7-up would be better for you. That's what I've always drank when I've had the flu or whatever. The Cola (the dark drinks) usually make me throw-up or kind of give me a stomach ache. So - I'd go with 7-UP, Sprite, etc.
I have used both. However,I think 7Up or Sprite may be better Dark colas may add to the problem if you have an upset stomach.

Also, don't forget that chicken soup and hot tea are good for the sick and sore stomach, too. (even though it's very hot!)
It's best to drink clear liquids. 7-up or Sprite. And make sure you don't try to eat solid food until you feel better - broth and jello with help.
The doctor has always told me that you should drink anything clear. anything that you can see though.
you were told right the first time sweetie, anytime you have stomach problems something clear is always better. sprite,
7-up,ginger ale ect.
yeah they say flat coke cola is good!
I always drank water or flat gingerale. dark colas like pepsi and coke have higher caffeine levels
