thanks to all who answered my last question - but now i wonder how long will this infection be contagious?

Question:

Answers:
I checked your original question about TobraDex (note spelling) and it's used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis. The health care provider will have prescribed usage for a number of days, such as 5 or 7. When treatment is completed, the condition is considered cured and the family member is no longer contagious. The eye(s) will no longer be reddened and will have no drainage, itching or pain. The antibiotic must then be disposed of.

Make sure that all family members use good hand hygiene at all times and that the one infected washes the hands before and after applying the antibiotic. Avoid sharing or using any items that may have come into contact with the infected member's eyes or face. The infected family member should avoid touching or rubbing the eyes as the bacterium can easily be transferred to other surfaces by the hands.

Other Answers:
bacterial infections are usually contagious when there is fever present. Once the person has been fever free for 24 hours or more then I would say it is safe to assume that the contagious part has pasted.
