do snakes carry sominella?

Question:
someone i know had to go to the hospital for really bad direahea with blood, etc (sorry the info is important ) before he became sick he cleaned his snake's cage. however he also had sushi and has a parrot and he ate noodle pie made with egg noodles (?) i am not making this up. i was just wondering if any of these carry the virus and if it could have been transmitted to him. thanks :)

Answers:
You have to use caution will all reptiles and amphibians. Actually, you should clean up carefully after taking care of ANY animal.
The sushi could make him sick, but the egg noodles shouldn't have. However, any time you eat, there is a chance the food was not properly taken care of and prepared.
Good luck. I hope he feels better soon!

PS -
Like most other reptiles, iguanas carry salmonella in their intestinal tracts," says .. Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine in New York. "The bacteria are 'shed' periodically in the animals' feces, and that's how the bacteria gets on the animals' skin, their cages, and other materials they touch."

Other Answers:
Yes, also turtles. Almost all amphibians and reptiles have bacteria.

salmonella usually exists in eggs Raw eggs can carry it, but since the noodles were cooked I don't think it was the cause.

The snake is the most likely culprit. It can be on reptile skin. He needs to wash the snake not just the cage. Cooked eggs are not a source of salmonella and parrots don't usually carry it either. Salmonella is a bacteria not a virus. Its usually on the surface of things like egg shells but reptiles are know to be carriers.

yes happy day It is spelled Salmonella, and No! We have 3 snakes and that is absolutely, untrue. Snakes do not carry Salmonella. Uncooked or improperly cooked food will do that to you. Especially, eggs and fish.

Yes snakes carry salmonella. My ex-husband had snakes in cages in our basement, and no one in the house was ever sick. I gave birth to a son a year after getting the snakes, and my son almost died, several times. He was hospitalized off and on for three months until we finally found a GOOD infectious disease doctor that treated him properly. Also, we were all tested, and were carrying salmonella as well without even knowing it. Snakes or reptiles in the house are a bad combination if you have children for this very reason.

All of our snakes feces were tested, and of course they were carrying salmonella. For anyone who doesn't believe they carry it, think logically. They eat rodents and rabbits, live. (or dead, whichever) Of course they carry it.

Yes snakes do, it could of also been the sushi or even if his birds droppings were infected it could be transmitted to him.
