Does PLAVIX thin out plugs in blood vessels besides thinning one's blood to prevent clotting?
Question:
Answers:
Plavix prevents platelet aggregation. It will help minimize additional platelets from "attaching" to plaque formations (plugs) already present in your blood vessels, but it won't thin out those already present. The aspirin usually taken in combination with Plavix is the "blood thinner". Both meds act on different parts of the "clotting" cycle. True clot busters are usually used in a hospital setting (ie: TPA/Integrilin/Heparin, etc) and then patients are discharged home on prescribed doses of oral meds(and sometimes SQ injections) to maintain and prevent further clot/plaque formation.
Other Answers:
take aspirin.
if plugs refers to blood clots, yes.
