Coronary Angiogram?

Question:
I am going to do a Angiography tomorrow morning. Has enyone done that? Is it painful?

Answers:
They will give you medicine so that you are relaxed. You will also be given pain medicine so you don't feel anything. They will insert a needle with a catheter through the groin (artery) and on the x-ray they will guide that up to where it needs to go and then they will inject contrast (also called x-ray dye) into the coronary artery and they will be able to see what is going on with it. The procedure shouldn't take very long and you might be sore where they go into the groin area but that should be all.

Hope everything goes well!!
You should be trying to relax now and not getting worried. Your dr. should have explained the procedure beforehand. there will be some discomfort - but you will be given medication to help you relax and local anesthetic for the injection site.

Good luck tomorrow.
My mom had one a few years back. She said that the weirdest part about it was that they kept her awake and she could feel pressure. I guess to her it just felt strange. She only experienced mild discomfort afterward. This discomfort was mostly due to the fact that after the procedure they plug the site of the catheter with a ball-type plug and it was more of an alien feeling than any pain.

Good luck!
I have had 2 in the last year and to be honest the worst part is the injection that they give you to numb the site where the cath goes in. if you ask they will give you something to help with the nerves so you will not be so upset. there is a little soreness for a few days after and sometimes bad bruising but not always, i had it with my last one but not first. so just rest and don't worry it will all be o.k and will be over and done before you know it.
