I've had congestion & coughing 4 a week & the coughing makes my head feel like it will explode. What is this?

It started with a sinus congestion. I am still coughing up yellow phlegm and my nose is constantly running. No fever the whole time. In fact, it has been between 97.6 and 97.9. Is this just a cold? What can I do to stop the excrutiating pain from coughing. Tylenol is not doing it any more.

hmmm.. no fever? and you've been coughing for a week already? the yellow sputum concerns me. because in the hospital, we look at sputum color, and yellow indicates a high white blood count -- meaning that your body started producing white blood cells because it senses an infection -- and white blood cells is what your body sends to fight it. is the sputum thick?

i know what you mean about the headaches when it comes to coughing.. i've had those too whenever i have a flu and also it hurts to cough. sometimes i would even cough blood because my airways are already scratched.

first, you need to see a doctor so he can prescribe you some anti-biotics if you have an infection. second, keep yourself always hydrated -- this sometimes help liquify the phlegm, making it easier to expectorate. i usually drink "nyquil" whenever going to sleep because i don't want to disrupt anybody with my cough so i hope that helps to. but i suggest you see a doctor first. if there is an infection, we want to immediately take care of that problem first.

sinusitis would be my guess, but you are right, go to the doc and get some antibiotics

you may have a uper respitory infection you need to go to doctor for antibiotics. you have a sinus infection. claritin will help.. ibuprofen.not tylenol will also help.BUT you need to get on antibiotics.. go to the doctor.. if you cant afford one, go to your local health department, they will help you..

my grandma did that when she had heart troubles it was fluid around her heart. or you could have a flue bug go to the doctors

You may have Bronchitis, and if so you need to get some Antibiotics to get rid of it

Once your phlegm becomes colored, yellow or green then you need to go to your doctor. Probably started out as an allergy. is there's pain??
if there's pain when u lean forword it's sinusitis for sure with pus level also
