Can dogs give humans STDs?

Question:
My little bother fell asleep on the floor while watching TV. We have a male poodle that will hump anything breathing. Well Scuddles was humping my little brothers face and I think his pink thing went into Donny's mouth. Ofcourse he woke up hollering bloody murder. He quickly went to the bathroom and washed his mouth out with AJAX but is tongue swoll up anyway and is bright red. He can hardly speak clear but I think he is concerned that Scuddles gave him a doggie STD. Is this possible?

Answers:
Ajax contains a very strong clhorine bleach, and is highly toxic/poisonous if ingested. You need to get him to an emergency room immediately if you are serious about him having had Ajax in his mouth.

Very few diseases transmit between dogs and humans. Chlymydia, often found in dog eye infections, is one that can spread, but other than that there are no STDs that can be transmitted between dogs and people.

There are plenty of harmful bacteria that can be transmitted howeer, such as Staph, strep, Enterococci, etc.

For the most part however, a dog's penis, like his mouth, is not very dirty, and is in fact much cleaner, from a bacterial load perspective, than a human mouth. You shouldn't have done anything about it other than to rinse out with water or a mouthwash.

Other Answers:
Some pet diseases are transferred to humans, but i think the ajax is causing the swelling of the mouth. ajax is very abrasive and is not intended for internal human use. I doubt that the doggie gave him an std. call a vet for a consultation.

it is a possability but ajax is a verry volitle substance and not meant to wash your mouth so the swelling is most likly from the ajax but id still get it checked out just to be safe good luck getting rid of the dog would not be a bad idea though It was probably the AJAX. . . Most STDs would should symptoms like that quickly anyway

I think it was the Ajax that affected his tongue.
It wasn't made for cleaning of the mouth.
I don't know of any doggies that have STD.
Doesn't mean they can't get it. A scarey thought.

AJAX? Are you kidding?

There should be a number on the container for poison control. Call it.

EEWWWW!! All I can say is "now that's BAD LUCK folks" ajax? he should have uses mouthwash or gargle with peroxide and water. ewwwwww
