I work in Multiple Myeloma research. Can I ask where your father is being treated? I work at the leading myeloma center in the US, and quite possibly, the world.
I'd be happy to offer answers/advice if you're interested. I'll copy this answer in a message to you as well so that you will have my contact info.
God bless.

Are you certain? These diseases typically effect only the very old.
If you want to know what the condition is, there is a very good site for it. Pl check it out. Treatment regimen will vary from person to person and age to age depending on the severity and how active the condition is.

Hi,
First - MM is not "just" for the very old, in fact it is a growing cancer for people between 45 and 55.
As far as your ques tion, his age makes treatment a lot harder: and the fact that you mention two different conditions will make a difference too.
First thing - which one does he have? The staging and typing and progression of the disease depends on what he has. Then, how is his health and strength and other factors.
MM in the "old" is not treated like in the young; due to the toxicity of the treatments, but there are things available.
The best sites to get a good overview of treatment options (for MM);

Good luck with your dad,
