Answers:
Do you mean "Radiation Oncology"?
Radiation Oncology- sum of knowledge regarding treatment of tumours by radiation.
A radiation oncologist is a doctor who specialises in the treatment of cancer patients, using radiation as the main modality of treatment as opposed to a medical oncologist who is a doctor who uses chemotherapy as the preferred modality of treatment.
There are two types of radiotherapy - delivered from outside the body by a machine, and using radioactive implants placed inside the body.
Please see the webpages for more details on Radiation therapy.
what do i do with an oily face?
Radation Onocology = the doctor
Radiation therapy = treatment
What's your question? I received radiation therapy after a lumpectomy. It was 7 weeks of 5 sessions a week. I went after work, and immediatley went home and napped for a half hour.I had a little burning, but used aloe before each treatment and it prevented major burning. Once the skin broke open, I used a sterile cream to prevent infection. It has been five years, and so far.cancer free!
Radiation Therapy is a broader terminology while Radiation Oncology is more specific.
It is more fashionable to be known as Radition Oncologist. In Radiation Oncology u treat cancer using radiation. In Radiotherapy u treat certain benign, that is non-cancerous lesions also with radiation. But today, it is only difference of terminology, otherwise RADIATION ONCOLOGY=RADIO THERAPY.
