That was alot of sugar you were eating. monitor it for a wk. My huband is a diabetic. that would be high for him. drink water when its past 150 this fire fighter that rescued my husband said drink a lot of water, that would kind of level your sugar off.
Yeah, that's just the pop tart and sugared coffee talking. I bet you were pretty wired for work, eh?
I had a girlfriend who was curious about my blood sugar testing and asked if I could test her. She had had 1 kid. I checked her before and after a high carbohydrate meal. She went from 120 to 240 and back down again. In a normal person, insulin takes time to get from the pancreas to the body's cells. It is not an immediate adjustment.
If you are consistently up in the 200's and 300's even when not eating loads of sugar, then you have something to worry about.
Home monitors are not diagnositic tools. They can be off as much of 20%. In this case your blood sugar could as low as 169 (or as high as 252). As already mentioned, glucose levels do rise after meals, however, it's been my experience when testing countless friends and family that have never gone over 150, and usually not over 100. It's best to wait 2 hours after a meal to test. If you're concerned, and if it's been a while since you have been tested, call and make an appointment with your doctor. Have a Glucose Tolerance test done and find out for sure. As you probably are already aware, gestational diabetes is risk for type 2 diabetes. Better to get a handle on it now if you're are in fact diabetic. Good luck.
