Has anyone else suffered a pnumothorax?

Question:
Just wandered if anyone out there has suffered with a spontaneous pnumothorax (collapsed lung) don't know if i spelt it properly. I had my first one last week and am interested to here from any other people with the same.

Answers:
yeah I did and I had pneumonia at the same time when I was 5.
I was in hospital for a few weeks.

Other Answers:
I hope that you were fully worked up as to why you experienced a spont. pneumothorax. I am a nurse that has treated hundreds of pneumos, but only a couple of spon. ones.
Would that be the pnumothorax where the total number of leucocytes and the absolute number of eosinophils, neutrophils and monocytes were significantly increased in the bloodstream?

Then my answer is no..
Nope but i do know that it's where the pleural membrane is broken or punctured causing the air pressure to drop and the lung to collapse!
I had one when I was 15 and have had no complications since (I am now 40). I was told by doctors this is not uncommon for adolescent boys, particularly those that are tall and lean. I have gone on to do much moutain climbing, distance running etc. so it appears to have not affected my cardiovascular fitness.
hello, my name is john, i am 49 and in pretty good health.last monday i was getting ready for work and i blew my nose real hard.a minute later i had a sharp piercing pain in my shiolder blade.the pain went right thru to the front if i took deep breaths..i was in the hospital for 6 days.. i had a spontaneuous collapse. (most occur in lean tall young people arround 16) They tried to get it back with oxygen for 2 days with no sucess.day three they used the dreaded chest tube..some relief but not enough..on day 4 they put another chest tube in and went higher into my chest cavity and that did the trick..Vicadin and Touridal are easing the pain.most of the pain now is from the tubes being put in.i should be as good as new in a few more days.I am glad to get those tubes out. DR states that their is a slight chance of a reoccurance in the next 4 years..I will know what is is for sure next time..I hope you are felling well soon..GOD BLESS ..john
