Is 'Thalidomide' (don't know the correct spelling) the same as Agent Orange?

Question:

Answers:
Agent Orange: An herbicide and defoliant containing 2,4-D and 2,4,5-T and trace amounts of dioxin. Agent Orange was used as a defoliant in the Vietnam War. There has been concern about Agent Orange as a carcinogen and teratogen (cause cancer and birth defects).

The Institute of Medicine of the National Academies in the US has found "sufficient evidence" of an association between exposure to Agent Orange and the risk of developing chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), Hodgkin disease, and soft tissue sarcoma.

Other Answers:
Agent Orange was a defoliant used in the Vietnam war. Thalidomide was a morning sickness drug that caused horrible birth defects.
Yea what the Nekkid Bear said
No. They are completely different. Thalidomide (you had it right) was given a sleep inducing drug. It was considered so safe that it was not a prescribed medication. Unfortunately, it caused birth defects during the first tri-mester of pregnancy. The end result was babies being born with deformed limbs (I personally know one of these people). Agent Orange is a herbicide that was used in Vietnam to expose enemy villages. It's use has been linked to various types of cancer. It also afflicted women who got pregnant by Vietnam soldiers. There is a linkage between Agent Orange and birth defects.
Thalidomide is a drug that was sold during the late 1950s and 1960s as a sleeping aid and to pregnant women as an antiemetic to combat morning sickness and other symptoms

Agetnt Orange :herbicide used by U.S. forces during the Vietnam War to expose enemy guerrilla forces in forested areas
