If you take 10 mg Lipitor daily is it harmful to take, in addition, 81 mg baby aspirin?
Question:
Answers:
nope. Lipitor is for cholesterol and should be taken in the evening for best absoprtion and aspirin is used as a blood thinner. they have nothing to do with one another, but both help the heart and circulation. It's absolutely safe.
Other Answers:
Ask your pharmacist
Hi first you should ask your Dr if they want you on aspirin everyday. It is given when a person is having some kind of heart event. But in general aspirin and lipitor are part of a plan to help a heart patient from having another attack.
No it is fine to take both
No. the aspirin is an anticoagulant and lipitor reduces cholesterol. Just be sure your liver is normal. I don't understand the answer to see your pharmacist.
It's okay to take both, but has your doctor prescribed the aspirin? Do you have an stomach disorders (ie: gastritis, ulcers). Never take anything (except vitamins) without checking with your doctor first. Lipitor is for cholesterol reduction. Aspirin is a "blood thinner" of sorts. While on Lipitor your doctor should be monitoring your liver function (metabolized there). An aspirin may seem harmless unless you have liver insufficiency or damage, so be careful.

No way
Its a good combination
Lipitor will lower your cholesterol AND keep your fatty plaques in the arterial walls stable, preventing them from rupturing and preventing heart attacks
It will also keep the non-stick teflon coating of your arteries (Endothelium) non stick
Aspirin will prevent your platelets from sticking
Its a great and safe combination
They won't interact
The contraindications are for either Lipitor or Aspirin by themselves, Liver-lipitor and stomach-aspirin
Ask your doctor.
taking the aspirin with the lipitor would be ok.assuming you dont have some sort of bleeding disorder, such as hemophilia or other coagulation problems, or if you havent suffered some kind of bleeding in the brain, such as a subdural hematoma (or other type of hematoma in the brain). in those cases, because aspirin is a mild anticoagulant, you may want to stay away because it does carry an additional risk of bleeding. however, the combination of lipitor and aspirin itself is a safe combo.

You should ask your doctor.Your doctor should know every medication that you are taking, including vitamin supplements and herbal supplements.

No, it's not harmful. Both drugs do different things but ultimately have the same purpose -- to prevent a heart attack and or stroke. Lipitor treats high cholesterol, and a baby aspirin thins you blood to decrease the risk of clots. I would recommend you talk to your doctor before starting aspirin. If you have any blood disorders or any active bleeding you should not take aspirin. Your doctor will probably ask you some questions and do a simple blood test. Hope this helps. from, Jill, R.N.
