Sweetie, no one can make a decision for you, however you have to go with your gut feelings. You also have to look at how old you are, what stage it is in? and is the treatment working at all.
(I have lost 4 of my family members to cancer I am only 44)
My younger sister was 26 and had melanoma, (she died in 1998), my other sister died last year and was 45 with adneocarcinoma in the lungs, my mom age 58 in 2002 with female cancer and my dad in 1994 with small cell carcinoma. Now here is the thing i wonder about even today..and you can figure your personal one out.
The one sister (the baby) had treatment and died within a year.
The older sister had some treatment but wasn't given long (12months) and she stopped treatments so she would not be so sick and she lived 7 MORE Years.
Mom didn't have treatment and lived a year. (but she was in stage 4 by the time we made her go to doc.
and dad lived 2 years with treatment.so.its a strange strange thing cancer is.
But for you, you sit down and talk about it with your loved ones be sure to get all alternatives and make sure you get second opinions also.
If the treatments you take are working, and I would go for that.
If they are not, i would stop and talk to doctor about another one, or what else is there.
Due to all the severe cancer in my family (which i am only one left) I have seen both with treatments and without.and i will be honest..i don't know what i would do if i get it.
I do have teenager kids and i personally..i mean personally would not have any treatment that would make them have to take care of me and watch me die. Now.that is only what i say now..
My chances are so high to get it, that who knows what will happen if i do.
But take your time, and please talk to anyone and everyone about their knowledge.
Also most important,, get second opinions!
Best wishes my friend and take care..
I will keep you in my prayers.
PS. I will say one thing to add, stay positive! but yet stay in reality.
You describe a difficult situation. Keep going to your treatments as scheduled but take plenty of time to enjoy your friends and family. Avoid the parasites that might contact you making claims about being able to treat or cure your cancer.
Fighting cancer is always hard so hang in there and try not to get depressed. I know that is easier said than done. best
