interpreting echocardiogram results?

I received the following results from my echo and was wondering what the two things are they looked at, what the values mean, and what are the risks if these values are elevated. Thanks!]

septal diastolic thickness (IVSd)
(my) Measurement: .936 cm
Normal range: 0.6-1.1 cm

End Diastolic Diameter (LVIDd)
(my) Measurement: 4.50 cm
Normal Range: 4.0-5.6 cm

Answers:
This numbers are fine. Your heart isn't enlarged and the wall (at least the septum) is of normal thickness. Don't borrow trouble.

Other Answers:
In my opinion the 'two things' they looked at are dollars and sense, the values are meaningless except to a 'cardiologist' and the real question is do you implicitly trust your 'cardiologist'? The answer to this question will be the determining factor in answering your second question

I don't know what the significance of the results are - but your numbers are within the normal range. I have had many echos and they often measure the heart valves - when open and closed to see if they open enough and close enough. Then they use these measurements in the future to see if you are getting worse or staying the same. A problem with a heart valve may eventually need to be surgical repaired or replaced.
