Question:
late wed night I took my 6yr old daughter to hospital for bug bite came home yesterday after finding out same night she was a diabetic she now has to take shots everyday I am new to this, really confused about what she can eat and drink

Answers:
If she take insulin shots everyday , this resembles normal insuline secreted in body , So she can eat everything but in small amounts for 6 times per day , and decrease amount of sugars in food and sweets although it is difficult for a child ., Also, there may be small movies or cartons to make here understand type of here disease and how to deal with it . ( N.B. I'm Moslem , if you feel wrong , don't here my advice ) .
The best advice I can give you is to consult with your family doctor, first and foremost. He can give you all the literature and avenues you need to explore to keep your daughter healthy. Seeing a diabetic counselor and dietician on a regular basis is extremely important. Learn to give the shots, know the ins and outs of her medication, the symptoms and side effects of hyper and hypoglycemia so that you will know when she is having a problem. Most importantly, don't treat her like an invalid. Make her proactive also. She's not too young to learn how to deal with this. She'll be living with it the rest of her life so give her the tools to do just that, deal with and do it well.
