whats the female to male transmission rate of herpes with antiviral therapy and condom use outbreak free 5 yr.
Question:
Answers:
Well from what you just said it sounds unlikely.
Just because someone is on antiviral therapy doesn't make it 100% safe for their partner. You can still get herpes if the other person is on medication and you can still get herpes if they aren't showing any signs or symptoms of the virus. In a Valtrex study, up to 70% of people infected with genital herpes got it from their partners when they were showing no signs or symptoms.
I have had herpes for 5 years now. My ex, who I was with for 4 years never got the virus from me! I wasn't taking the medication every day like some people do, I was only taking it when I had an outbreak and we were NOT using condoms, and he still didn't get it from me. I am currently engaged to a different guy right now and he got herpes from me about 2 months after we started having unprotected sex. I've even read of couples who have been together 10 years or more, one has the virus and the other doesn't.
So, it's pretty impossible to say whether or not you got it (although it sounds unlikely). The safest thing to do (other than abstinence of course) is to ALWAYS wear a condom. Even then, condoms are not 100%, you can still get genital herpes by just skin to skin contact with someone who has the virus. You don't need to have sex with someone to get it.

go find some public health journals
If you used the condom properly then probably very little chance, however, no one on here is going to have the expertise to tell you the exact percentages.
100%. No matter how cautious you are.
its still possible but i would say only if you were having an outbreak and it was on a place of your body that was not covered by the condom
