Can cancer be the cause of unexplained itching?
Question:
Answers:
Yes, Cancer can be a sign of unexplained itching, but so can an allegric reaction, internal infections, extremly dry skin, stress, etc. So if you have no other symptoms are any reason to believe that u might have cancer, I would say you relax, cause all of the anxiety might also be causing the itching. If you itch for more then a few days I would suggest going to a doc. There are a number of reasons why you could itch, so it is better safe then sorry, that's what I say. Get a doc's opinion. They have medical degrees for a reason. Best of luck to you & I hope you are feeling better ASAP! :)

while cancer can cause a wide variety of symptoms, I wouldn't jump to that conclusion...there's so many things that can cause itching - skin disorders such a psoriasis, eczema, allergic reactions, chronic dry skin. Do you notice anything different with the appearance of your skin? redness? dryness? hives or bumps of any sort? Have you started on any new medications recently? (if so, it could be an allergic reaction - would could become serious)
At the very worst I'd say it may have something to do with your nervous system - which could be causing you to itch without an actually cause. If it persists or becomes worse, talk to your doc...and don't get worried over the cancer thing, unless you have unusual looking moles, I'd say that would be one of the last things a doc would consider.
had cancer--only time i itched was from the morphine, go to the doctor
No, some cancers you have pain. Itching all over can be caused by different things. If you've been swimming, you could have "swimmers itch" or be allergic to something. Itching all over could be diabetes, you may want to get checked for that. But there are different reasons, best to see a doctor.
Depends on where the itching is. One known symptom of a certain type of brest cancer is Unexplained itching. So it this itch is on your breast then get it checked please because caught early its well treated and well if its not caught early then .....................
Not likely. Skin cancer is usually a spot that starts liek a mole, and just gets bigger, color changes, so on. I think your paranoid. Get some hydrocortisone cream (available over the counter). Or, even better, if you have insurance see a doctor.
No. You have an allergy to something.
Did you change soaps or laundry detergent?
Have you eaten something new or excessively, like shellfish?
Have you started a new job?
take a look at any major or minor changes.
If you are breaking out in hives, take over the counter Claritan.
Carcinoma of Bile duct causes severe itching by blocking bile circulation, and the accumulated bile pigment in blood causes itching.
I have a friend that has hodgkin's lymphoma. She said that she was itchy a lot. It turns out that was one of the symptoms of her cancer. I would worry because 99.9% of the time itching is caused by something else (allergic reaction etc.). But if it does persist for longer than a week or two make an appointment with your doctor. If it stops and you haven't had a check up or physical with your doctor (this year), make one anyway. Good luck
