They smell like Lima beans.
People with uncontrolled type one diabetes have fruity smelling breath due to the ketones in their blood that can be exhaled. It is a diagnostic sign for type one diabetes. if their sugar gets to high, their breath has a fruity smell.
It is true for some people. It does depend on the type of diabetes that you have, and the type of insuliin that you use for the condition.
There was an episode of CSI:Miami about it.
It was desribed as a sickly sweet smell
The smell comes from the pores of your skin.
Taking the insulin on a more regular basis eliminates this smell.
My sister is Diabetic and there is no smell. It's just a wives tale i'm sure. it smell alot like nail polish remover.acetone..if someone smells like this they need to definitely check their blood sugar to see how high it is.and usually will need to visit the ER..because the level is getting out of control and need medical intervention..when the glucose is high its called diabetic ketoacidosis..for short DKA..
