is something wrong with me?

Question:
i kinda WANT to have type 1 diabetes and i have no idea why? am i crazy? please help!

Answers:
Do you want diabetes just to say "I'm diabetic" and gain sympathy? If that is the case, then that it is a concern. Or are you having actual symptoms of something and you feel that getting a diagnosis of diabetes would be a relief to you so you can begin to take care of the problem? If so, that is understandable. It is frustrating to have physical symptoms and not know what is wrong. I am a nurse (dialysis) and I see everday what diabetes does to people, especially those who do not take care of themselves. You do not want a disease like this because it leads to so many more problems.

thats pretty fuckin out there

yes, that's crazy! Yes, you are crazy. People living with Type I seem to have lots of trouble managing it. I know of one man with Type I who is legally blind, and I know of a woman with Type I who has nerve problems due to the effect of diabetes on peripheral circulation. Be glad you don't have it.

Well why do u want diabetes that may make you crazy, but don't think of it as you being crazy just list pros and cons. Plus its not that easy to get

No, your looking to get sympathy so people will feel sorry for you and shower you with kindness and baby you.

is there anyone around you with type 1 diabetes?
your not crazy. maybe its just a stage or a phase.
do you have any reasoning why you want diabetes?

thats awkward It depends on your reasoning for the desire to have Type1 Diabetes. If you want it just to have it and say, "Oh I'm a diabetic." then you might just be a little off. If you want it because of your diet and cuisine appeal, then that might just be suggesting you want a permanent diet limitation, and is different then blindly wanting a disease.

you are totally insane, that is something you don't want to live with for the rest of your life.my best friend has type 1 diabetes and she says it's something that you never get used to.

I would say you definitely have mental health issues and need to get help immediately. Make an appointment with a psychiatrist and get to the root of your desire to be ill. As someone with a debilitating chronic illness, anyone that wishes for one is quite frankly nuts.

It's a mental disorder, when people want to have disability or handycap.u may wanna seek some help if it gets worse.either that or u just want attention from the illness. yes, you need to get help. it sounds like a cry for attention, talk to a parent or a trusted adult soon. or if you are over 18 get help

why would you want it? to control your eating habits. To get sympathy from family and friends. be glad you can eat what you want when ever you want. I don't know what you do if you got diabetes 1 but it probably aint good. you should think why you want it and come up with some ideas to avoid it cause its your health and should be happy your healthy.

Yes, you are crazy. Do you have any idea what you'de go through with diabetes? Better watch what you say, because it might come true. Words are powerful. I think you are trying to get attention by asking a dumb question.

Yes. I have type 2 and thats bad enough. Type 1 is worse in a sense because you have to take insulin injections there is no other way to control it. In type 1 your body makes no insulin there for shots are a must in type 2 it makes insulin either not enough or it doesnt use it correctly so sometimes pills can correct the imbalance. Wanting to have a disease like this is wrong. I would give anything not to have it. I have no choice but to live with it. You have a choice not to so dont. If you still want to talk about it you can email me through my user name and we can talk about it. Do you know what happens to you if you have type 1 diabetes? Be happy you are healthy!

no you don`t , you will have the following trouble
feet and legs hurt and swell ,it hurts to walk at times
you gain a lot of weight
you will have kidney ,heart, liver, memory and eye trouble
if you are lucky you will not go blind.
you could loose your feet and legs,do to loss of blood flow.

If you really want to give yourself 4 to 8 needles of insulin a day and have to check your blood sugar at least that many times also, you will wish you did not have it! You sound like you are childish or immature. Go to a dialysis clinic
just one time and smell the urine and you will not
want to get diabetes at all, ever in your life,
because you could end up spending 4 hours every other day getting your blood de-toxified
or you may die! I wouldn't wish that for any
person! You may not be crazy, but you might
want to talk to a counselor about this wish. Why not wish for something that you have control over, like volunteering at a childrens'
or veterans' hospital. The patients really could
use your help and you'd get some much needed
self-esteem and satisfaction into your life.

not sure where to start. My 6 year old has had diabetes since he was 10 months. To this day he has had his blood sugar checked by finger pricks over 11,000 times and has had over 8,500 shots. He has to eat on a rigid schedule and is allowed limited carbohydrates and low sugar. When his friends are eating cake at a time that is not his snack, he can't have any. When he wakes up with low blood sugar he hallucinates, screams, and has seizures. He may end up losing sensation in his legs on day, or even have them amputated. He could be blind one day due to retinopathy. He could die if his blood sugar goes to low or too high. Does this really sound like something you want?!?! It may appear that a person with diabetes gets a little more attention from a parent, but it is not because they love them more, it is that they have to be more involved in that child's health or they may not have that child around anymore. I hope this helps Yes dear, see a mental health professional. Diabetes is a horrible disease that has many other problems associated with it like: high blood pressure, heart disease, kidney failure. Please go see a professional.

it sure sounds crazy 2 me

i would do anything to give mine to you..almost

I think that I know how you feel.

You want to get diagnosed with it for the sake of saying that you have it. In the longrun, however, you will end up wishing that you did not have it.

Try your best to avoid getting it, but if you do, accept it and live out your life. Good luck!
