Do you always have a fever with the flu?

Question:
I woke up with a headache and a sore throat. I was tired and achy all morning and afternoon. I took a nap in the afternoon. Now, I feel I have more energy, but who knows about tomorrow. I don't have a runny nose or cough and I don't have a fever. Do you always have a fever with the flu? Do I have a cold or flu?

Answers:
Yes, one always has a temp with the flu.
Without a cough and congestion, it doesn't sound as if you have a cold. A bout of tonsillitis can cause a sore throat. Tonsillitis comes and goes, but it won't go away by itself. You could also have mono, which is not a serious illness, but it does cause fatigue. Good luck!

Other Answers:
Yes but u might have Strep throat but if u have a runny nose then u dont. but if not a runny nose go to the doctor Strep hurts and it feels like a big spiky ball in ur throat. And it's VERY contageous.

to be sure so that you get the right meds, call your dr and tell him/her the symptoms you have and he/she can write you a perscription if they feel you need it . good luck
If you mean "influenza" when you say "flu", a fever is almost mandatory. But there are plenty of other viruses that give you flu-like symptoms of headache, body aches, fatigue, with or without much of a fever. You might have one of these other viruses.
