Do I have OCD?

Question:
Everyday I worry about things A LOT! I can not go to sleep unless my room is clean. I can't watch tv or go to sleep unless I know where all of my things are. If I am missing something I HAVE to get up and look for it. Do you think that I have OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder)? How can I get help without going to a doctor? If I don't have it what do you think I have?

Answers:
You probably have the beginnings of it. It can worsen over time. You'll know for sure you have it when you start having to do certain things a certain number of times to make "sure" they were done. (liking checking that the stove is off before you leave your house, etc.)

My mom's got it. It was hell growing up with her. Everything had to be "just" right. If I left a t-shirt on the floor in my room I got reamed for it because she would completely freak out. She eventually had 2 nervous breakdowns and we only talk via email now because it is easier on me.

Seek a therapist, get some medication, and force yourself to let some of these issues go once in a while. Leave your room dirty once in a while, do it on purpose.
You're fine, none of those traits are negative. If you worry to much, try praying, it's supposed to release loads of stress.
