Do these symptoms point to an infected colon or colon cancer?

Question:
There's blood in the stool. What makes me think it might be just an infection is that my friend had a fever for a day. However, he has also been really tired and worn out lately and lost his appetite. Although he is going to have a colonoscopy this friday, what do you guys think it might be? =|

Answers:
It is possible ,just to be absolutely sure see your doctor today to confirm your suspicion. hope it is a virus but it pays to check.

Other Answers:
It might just be haemorrhoid's, but he is doing the right thing having a colonoscopy, that will show what it is. Everyone over 50 should have one, do it at 40 if you have a family history of colon cancer
My wife had colon cancer. The sympton's were low grade fever and blood in the stool. If they are doing a colonoscopy, then most likely the blood is dark red indicating it is coming from within body, most likely the colon. Hemroids bleed bright red usually as they are near the surface of the skin.

Hopefully it is nothing major, but the colonoscopy is the best procedure to be safe rather than sorry. Colonoscopy sounds horrible, but actually it is a painless procedure. In fact to lighten the situation, I had my wife put an error down my back with the words "exit only" the day they did mine. The doc laughed for a good ten minutes before knocking me out!

Good luck

Robert
