I don't want to actually do it but i do know some people with them and i was wanting to know what it does to them. And if i can't get them to stop right now, how long does it take for binging and perging to take a tole on your body?? Like if they do it for 2-5 days and it helps them (as in like getting smaller) can they stop and can their body still be fine?? Thanx 4 ur help!!

In eating disorders such as bulimia and anorexia it's more of a phycological thing than a physical one. It like saying "Flab is in the eye of the beholder" Anorexics and bulimics would look themselves in the mirror and think they are fat no matter how thin they are.

For me, i would love to help people who have eating disorders. I think i have the most common one: binge eating disorder. I have known someone who was bulimic but i hadn't had enough info about bulimia to know it could be deadly. I know of 2 people in my school who happen to be anorexic. I currently know someone who is bulimic. I'm trying to be as supportive as i could. I researched bulimia and friends.

I think it is because of what society expects from a woman. (notice that most people with eating disorders are females) Society expects a perfectly thin woman. This is expressed everywhere. Teen movies, magazines, models, video clips, and the list is never ending.
2-5 days won't affect. Direct effects they will experience will be soar throat.

These are the effects of bulimia:

Blood
-Anemia
Heart
-Irregular heart beat
-Heart muscle weakened,
-Heart failure
-Low pulse and blood pressure
Body Fluids
-Dehydration
-Low potassium
-Low magnesium
-Low sodium
Intestines
-Constipation
-Irregular bowel movements (BM)
-Bloating
-Diarrhea
-Abdominal cramping
Hormones
-Irregular or absent period
Brain
-Depression
-Fear of gaining weight
-Anxiety
-Dizziness
-Shame
-Low self esteem
Cheeks
-Swelling
-Soreness
Mouth
-Cavities
-Tooth enamel erosion
-Gum disease
-Teeth sensitive to hot and cold foods
Throat and Esophagus
-Sore
-Irritated
-Can tear and rupture
-Blood in vomit
Muscles
-Fatigue
Stomach
-Ulcers
-Pain
-Can rupture
-Delayed emptying
Skin
-Abrasion of knuckles
-Dry skin

As for being supportive, you should try to listen to them. They are usually doing this because they are in need of control, so if you tell them something like "If you stop, everything will be alright" it will get them angry at you. You should talk to them and use the word 'I' more often than the accusing 'you'. "I think it isn't a good idea that your binging and purging. I'm concerned about you. I think it's better to see a doctor" rather than "you are killing yourself. this is wrong. Go to the doctor! You're mentally ill"

They're bad. Don't have one.
I think eating disorders are a psychological thing. These people only think they look fat, when everyone else can clearly see they look fine.

We get nutrients, minerals, vitamins, energy etc. from eating food. I don't know the exact effects of binging and purging, but any imbalanced diet is bad for you, people with eating disorders will grow weak from malnourishment.
People need to lose weight!
id say bullemia is more satisfying but people don't get it like they think a bullemic can just eat alot and then puke it up but really alot of girls with bullemia are also anorexic just on their binges. eating ALOT ALOT.they'll purge after bc of guilt. ive never purged myself but i have binged and felt guilty. i know that me having disorderly eating habits will probably lead to bullemia but . what can you do. throwing up can make your esophogus explode. and if these girls do it a few times.. and it works.they'll do it more bc of the satisfaction . so its not like you can just stop . it slike playing a computer game.. you do it for a week only? no you do it for a while because you like it and it gives you enjoyment..same with purging..you get the satisfaction of being thin after eating and eating and you just keep doing it like an addiction. its hard to have an eating disorder but it becomes part of your life and it stays on your brain 24/7. seriously.. you'd know you had an eating problem because you'd think about food and calories and guilt after eating and dieting and everythign like that every second of the day trust me .. its a scarey thought but whatever.thats lifee
I think it is a term made up by psychologists to get money out of people. I feel there is no such thing and that there is nothing wrong with watching one's food intake. No pain, no gain (or loss, in this case). So people tell me I have this and that disorder. Then they keep eating and are grotesquely fat and are slaves to food. Which would you rather be? I'd rather be what I am--beautiful, thin and in control. They are all seething with jealousy but they can't get ever measure up to me. I eat little food and little nutrition but I am alive and well and not going anywhere. So what if I don't always feel great? The body will adjust to whatever calorie level it is placed at. I'm not underweight until I lose another 10 lbs. So much the better when I do. I am like a mermaid--beautiful, streamlined and free from the clutches of nasty, disgusting food, especially impure food like meat and fish.
Eating disorders are indeed a reality that many women and some men struggle with. There could be a wide variety of reasons one develops an eating disorder. Some statistics have shown that 10% of men are sufferers from eating disorders, but the number would probably grow if more men came out about their issue. But since it's not associated with being a "male" problem, many are probably ashamed of it. Eating disorders can be developed from serious emotional, physical or sexual abuse. Being raised in a dysfunctional family where alcohol and drugs were abused may have helped trigger a disorder. Many people do develop them based on a barrage of negative emotions and a low self-concept or self-esteem. Some possible complications include, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, gall bladder disease, heart disease and certain types of cancer. If someone only does this for 2-5 days and then stops, it's not classified as an eating disorder. It has to be a more consistent pattern over a long period of time. So when and if a doctor helps determine it's an eating disorder, the major damage to the body will already be done. It's never a healthy alternative however to put your body through that type of stress for any period of time.

i think eating disorders start with depression if your depressed get counseling
be thin is pressure from society, and mostly psychological. its just a vicious cycle, for example
they feel guilty because they think theyre fat, so the become annorexic
then the get hungry and binge, and become belomic,
then they think theyre too fat, so they go annorexic
