There are many research being done in this field. One of them that has had some success is using RNA interference.
It was recently discovered that a type of RNA found in every cell in the human body plays a part in destorying faulty DNA (used to make proteins) and can disable the genes of diseases.
Scientist were then able to genetically engineer harmless HIV viruses which can deliver a trigger for the RNA interface allowing it to deactivate the genes of wild HIV viruses.
This method was successful in lab trials on mice and is currently being tested on humans suffering from AIDS. The technology was originally developed by an Australian based biotech company called Benitech which is now based in the US (right opposite the office of Google I might add).

If we find everyone one with aids and we then quarantine them too some area where their infected filth can stay eventually we will have to squelch the problem
probably not a cure for ppl that already have the disease, but if the ppl that have it would stop passing it to others , then i guess it would stop there. Many pharmaceutical companies are working right now to find a vaccine for this horrible disease. Eventually, I believe that they will discover one. As to which one or in what country its hard to say, obviously it will be in country that is developed but does it really matter which company discovers it? And it will be a company not a country that finds this vaccine.
AIDS is a retro virus and we are years away from a cure for ANY virus. The World wide epidemic is prompting a concerted and multi-national approach to tackling this disease and no one nation has supremecy in this.
Never because the government would not benefit from a cure. They make more money with the treatments for AIDS because the patients use those treatments often and they pay a lot of money for them. A cure would only be used once so it would make a lot of money for the government. The government doesn't care about sick people, they love sick people because they bring in a lot of money.
