We have a bat in our house?

Question: We are not sure if the bat has bitten anyone while we where sleeping - There has already been one boy here that has died from rabies from a bat - how can we get rid of the bat - anyone know?

Answers:
If you do not know if the bat has bitten anyone (because their teeth are so sharp, you may very well not know), all family members should be treated as if you were bitten. Your family physician can help you with that. The CDC recommends that. Treatment consists of a series of shots that are given for a length of time. This can avoid any incidents as you mentioned above. As far as ridding the bat, some good suggestions are already mentioned.

Where did the boy live that died from the bat? Sounds like the bat gets in somewhere from the outside. Do you have open holes in your home that he can get in. Close all open spaces up.

Call animal control, the health department, your landlord if u have one. Get that bat out ASAP before u end up in the ER getting rabies shots!!
