If I have a temperature below 98.6, is that still considered a fever (or why do I feel feverish below 98.6)?

Question:
I ask this question because of problems I seem to have with the regulation of my own core temperature. As a matter of fact, I often feel more "feverish", with sweating and night sweats, when my temp is below 98.6.

Answers:
It's ok to have a lower temp. But the night sweats concern me. Have you been to the dr.? Do you have any other symptoms, such as slight tremor of arms and legs? Losing weight?Being tired all the time? if you have these symptoms you could have a thyriod problem. If the sweats are accompanied with cough it could be TB. You really need to go to the Dr.

Other Answers:
98.6 is an "average" temperature.
Some people run lower. others higher.
It sounds like you're one of the lower temp folks so if your body goes up towards 98.6 you technically are running a slight fever.

its not a fever if you have a temperature under 98.6 degrees
because my body temperature is 96.5
and im perfectly fine
maybe you do have a fever or maybe your body temperature is a bit colder then everyone elses. The average body temperature of the human population is about 98.6, and even that's wrong because it was converted from Celcius improperly, in reality, it's closer to 96-97. In any case, your core temperature may hover around 94-95 normally (just an educated guess) so that even though your body temp is at 98 or so, it is still a few degrees higher than normal, and therefore you feel feverish.
