I have had asthma for years. I have been on every medicine and hate the side effects (i.e. the shakes). So I started taking Allegra. For some crazy it works. Allegra is an allergy medicine.

get a new doctor or a different opinion from a specialist.
Wow, that sounds scary. Is you DR a specialist. If not, It is time to cosult a pulmonologist, maybe an allergist, also, yo help control your triggers. Good Luck!
Maybe you need to consult with another doctor. Also they have a test to find out what triggers allergies. That might help as allergies can cause asthmatic episodes.
Go to a pulmonary specialist. There are meds that don't have the side effects of albuterol etc. Then again, maybe your cough is not reactive airway disease and that's why the meds are not working.
You might have to move . It could be fumes from car exhaust, where you work , or something else in the environment. you should also learn some relaxation techniques to calm down and breath slower .
I used to suffer asthma, therefore, I know what you're going through. Once this lady told my mom to let me drink a natural remedy which consisted on just plain water with celery sticks in it. (Just take the celery sticks rinse them good and put them in a well cover glass container with water. Keep it refrigerated and every time you're thirsty drink the water. Do not add sugar or honey). It worked for me and I hope that it works for you too. Good Luck.
See a pulmonologist. You need treatment. Shakes from the rescue inhaler (albuterol) is usually short lived and you should develop some tolerance to that. Your chronic cough is troubling and suggest chronic symptomatic asthma, as does your notation of wheezing. These symptoms suggest that you require a steroid inhaler and possible more. Do not discount the severity of your asthma by normal oxygen saturation numbers; you will automatically breath faster to correct any difficulty in breathing; this will maintain a "normal" oxygen saturation number. IT DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE NOT IN TROUBLE. If you do have persistent symptoms and you are not properly treated (steroids) you are at high risk of a sudden severe exacerbation that could kill you
Dr. Batmanheldi in his book, "Your not sick, your thirsty. Your bodies many cries for water" suggests many of our health problems are due to lack of hydration. He points out that the lungs have postules that have a small amount of water in them that help us breathe. The brain takes first priority over water consumption and when the body is dehydrated, the brain will start pulling water from less essential areas. When the brain takes the water from the lungs, it will close up the lungs to reserve water. Try drinking half your body weight in ounces of water, ex: 150lbs = 75 ounces daily.
The kind of water can make a difference as well. The cluster size of water needs to be small enough to get into the cells and hydrate. Tap water and most bottled water do not do that. Try a bottled water from the health food store like Penta or Smart water. They are expensive. You can make you own for less though with a treatment system.
