If you were to get an ECG what would be the best number of leads to use?

Question:

Answers:
the best is a 12 lead EKG. it can 'read' more areas of the heart and give a readout of more areas of the heart, which allows a doctor, nurse, or other health practitioner to better see how the areas of your heart are functioning. if you go to any ER, you will undoubtedly be hooked up to a 12 lead EKG if you are experiencing any heart or breathing trouble because this is the most diagnostic of the EKGs.

Other Answers:
If I remember correctly (obviously I don't) it was either 5 or 7 leads that were used.

Sorry, I'm not more help.

The best and often most common number of leads used is 12. However 3 or 4 can be used as well, depending on what the ECG is performed for. An ECG as part of a physical exam usually should be a 12 Lead one, while most events monitors have 3 to 4 leads. The best is a 12 lead ECG. It looks at the heart in more ways than the standard 3 or 4 lead. I use it all the time on my patients in the ambulance. The 3 or 4 lead is good for just the underlying rhythm however to see what is really going on with the heart the 12 lead is best.

EMT 12 Lead EKG is the best option to choose from since it shows you the electrical activity of the heart at different angles. It will show you the anterior, lateral, inferior views or electrical activities of the heart.
