narcotics do not damage the pancrease directly or indirectly, they are metabolised in the liver. Your diabetes is likely inherited, good luck
I do believe the heavy hitting medications can cause imbalance in insulin production which can lead to diabetes, as well as other conditions.
www.hufa.org has an article at the pain link that simplistically explains why pain can increase despite taking anti-pain medication. I was 47 when I flipped from being hypoglycemic (low blood sugar) to diabetic. Mine may have been due to the Depo Provera shot, not pain medications, though.
