Answers:
It is my impression that rabid cats are rare. To have symptoms of rabies on the first day is unusual. Call the Atlanta Center for Disease Control and ask them for help in your local area—you may need a series of shots to be on the safe side. Rabies kills.
My Mom was bit by a stray cat last year and her finger turned purple and was incredibly swollen. Her doctor instructed her to catch the cat and observe it for several days. The cat died, so it was then tested for rabies. It was clear. The infection occurred because the cat had some other type of disease. You need to wash the cut thoroughly and find the cat. If your parents don't take you to the doctor when they should, you need to seek help. Talk to a school counselor.
