What is the best remidy for a cold soere?

Question:
I'm using abreva, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything that can help get rid of it faster.

Answers:
I've tried all the home remedies such as applying tea tree oil, but nothing works any better or faster for me than Abbreva. Two days later, the cold sore is gone, as opposed to two weeks.

Some people swear by opening the sore up with a sterilized needle, then freezing it with an ice cube. Again, I've never had any luck with that method, either.

I am going to try an herbal remedy to boost my immune system and see if that cuts down on the incidence of the cold sores to begin with.
you know what, i get cold sores where my lip swells up so big, that it looks like my hubby has been beating me ( which he hasnt)

i have tried Abreve, Carmex, and any other type of lip treatment you can buy at the store...i was getting them so frequently, that as soon as one healed, i would get another..if i had the slighest bit of a cold, i would get one

i started to buy Lysine Vitamins, some say those help...my doctor actually gave me Valtrex, the genital herpes pills...i dont have genital herpes if thats what you are wondering...but cold sores are a form of herpes...

as soon as you feel any sign of a cold sore, you know the tingling on your lip or the itching, you would start to take the pills, she gave me a supply for three days..if you took the pills at the first sign, i would have no bump, itching or anything, just a small red spot where it was starting to form...

in order to keep them at bay for me and not having to take Valtrex 10 times a month, i constantlly put lip ointment on, there are lots of good ones..i get the ones that have vitamins in them...sometimes the change of weather causes people to have them or even stress...

just a few things for you to consider and i hope it helps...
Blistex medicated (white creamy stuff in a tube - not the yellow jel).
