Skin help!?

Question:
I have a large, hard bump located on one of my underarms and I noticed within the past half year or so, that it will come around and then go away after a while.... I was wondering if anybody knew what it could be, so I can take a look at some research before worrying too much about it... it's just that this time when it's come back, it hurts my whole arm, when I lift it... which, you know, kinda sucks.... can anybody help me on this one?

Answers:
I've got one too I've had for about 3 years. Sometimes it is bigger, sometimes it hurts. These days it is pretty big and I can see it.

I have had it checked and many times. I've had it mammogrammed 3 times and had ultrasound on it. It doesn't show up on any of the tests so the docs are certain it is NOT cancer. (breast cancer can appear under the arm).

It is probably lymphatic tissue or a fluid filled cyst, neither of which are any grounds for concern. It could be a sweat gland issue too.

You should have it looked at, but given your description it is probably not anything serious. It's just that it is a good idea to have it checked out, and maybe they can make it go away so it doesn't hurt.

Other Answers:
Fat and/or cancer.

if its kinda hard, it might be a scyist- sp? Yeah, go see a doctor about it- its no big deal.
It could be a lymph node. My daughter had one when she was very young. It could also be cancerous however so mabe you should see a doctor and make sure it is nothing serious. If it is just a lumph node then you'd be fine.
Yes. You probably have a benign cyst. Often it could be a blocked hair follicle. I too had one when I was in the Air Force, and they gave me a local anesthetic, cut my armpit open (a slight incision), and removed a gumball sized cyst. Took 30 minutes. Mine was actually deeper than the doc expected, and he said he would have put me under if he had known. I have a small crater looking scar in my armpit that is totally not noticeable. I think you should go to your doctor right away. I remember mine was really hard like that too. It's no big deal, but get it taken care of right away.
