If i was at a risk of a heart attack would the doctor of told me by now?

Question:
I'm a 19 year old female that is afraid of a heart attack

Answers:
Yes if the doctor has any reason to believe you may have a heart attack, he/she would tell you. But of course your doctor would have to run some tests on you before knowing anything. But if you are over weight, or have a family history of heart attacks, then the risk is greater.

Other Answers:
Doctors generally aren't going to go out of their way to tell you anything -- especially at your age. They are simply too busy. You're going to have to take some responsibility for your own health.

That said, unless you have a really bad family history, or there's something wrong with your heart (or you do drugs), or you're extremely overweight (like, 500 pounds or something), you're probably worrying over nothing.
Why are you afraid of having a heart attack at the age of 19. If you must worry about something I'm sure you can find things that are a lot more pressing to your age than a heart attack. I wouldn't worry about it unless you are morbidly obese.
If you eat right and exercise, and you have seen your doctor, he would have told you about any concerns. I assume that your blood pressure was taken and everything was fine. Certainly, you can call your doctor's office and ask if there were any concerns about your last visit.

if your age was 91 instead of 19, you might have a reason to be concerned.
If you have seen a doctor, I'm sure someone took your blood pressure. This would give them a primary piece of info regarding your risk of likely heart attack. So yes, your doctor would have told you. Major risk factors for heart disease are smoking, being overweight, getting little or no exercise, and eating a diet high in saturated fats. If any of these apply to you, fix them and you stand a good chance of being 89 in 70 years!

Good luck.
Thing's get over looked every day by Doctor's If you have a fear that something may be wrong , point it out to your Dr. and ride him or her till you get a answer. Dose it run in your family? Are there signs that make you feel this way? chest pains? Write down all questions you want to ask before you go in.That way you don't miss any thing and there is no loose ends.. Good luck to you .
Yes, but why not ask him about it the next time you go in.
If you are 19, the only way you will have a heart attack is if you were born with a heart problem, use cocaine (very real possiblity here) or have sickle cell disease.

If none of those apply to you, then eat right, exercise regularly and quit worrying.

You might want to see a counselor to find out why you are afraid of a heart attack at your age. Could be an anxiety problem, and you might benefit from treatment for that.

Good luck!
THE DOCTORS ARE NOT EXPECTING A 19 Y/O GIRL TO BE AT RISK OF HEART ATTACK. ARE YOU DOING DRUGS, HAVE A BIRTH DEFECT, OVERWEIGHT, DIABETIC? IF YOU TRULY ARE THAT CONCERNED THEN CONFRONT YOUR DOCTOR AND LET HIM KNOW YOU WANT A FULL CARDIAC EXAM.
if you are worried about a heart attack you should get the facts about the waning signs and if you dont have any signs and your doctor says your blood pressure annd colessteral level is ok you should be ok tell your dotor about your worries he is there to help you work to a solution so you dont have to worry and injoy the best years of your life dont be afraid because your not alone ihad open heart surgery and if i would have talked to my doctor i may have prevented it by just tacking medicine and exercise your doctor is your best friennd when it comes to this talk to him
ive seen this questions before why are u so worried about haveing one
looking at your other questions you definetly sound like you need to see a psychiatrist. you arent going to have a heart attack and if youre that anxious over it you need professional help.
Honestly, and I'm not trying to be mean, you're probably at a greater risk of obsessive/compulsive problems than a heart attack. (Anyone who reviews question history can understand why I would say this.)

If you are still stuck on this, go get a second opinion from a cardiologist, and if that comes back negative then it's probably time to let it go.

I hope you move on to something else soon and try to focus your thoughts elsewhere.good luck and have a great rest of your life.
Yes if you ask your Dr. & tell him you are concerned about this. I'm sure he would check you out, and would tell you if you have problems, but you are so young, why are you so afraid? Does someone close to you have heart problems? I would call my Dr. and talk to him about this, do not sit around & worry about having a heart attack.
