more of an answer for decreasing your reaction. ppl with cat alleries can be reacting to the dander and also saliva. if possible, have someone help you by grooming the cat regularly (away from you) with a comb or brush, then wipe the cat down with a damp cloth or paper towel in the same direction of the fur if he will tolerate this.(may not at first,but with regular routine and possibly a treat afterwards can work). this will reduce the amount of hair and dander on the pet itself. also have them clean the area where the cat was groomed and the tools used. a damp paper towel can be tossed,maybe put it in a platsic grocery bag, etc if trash not taken out daily. also, if you have carpet, vacuum daily, store vaccum away from you (i.e. closet,porch) bag should be changed asap.(If no one is available to help you with the cleaning and you choose to do it yourself, tie a bandana or such over your mouth and nose during, but better to have someone help until you get rx if you go that route.) as for saliva, i doubt you are kissing your kitty, but don't since this is what they use to bath themselves, wash your hands after petting.make sure your cat has enough water to drink at all times to help prevent dry skin. all of these take time, but little money and in the long run will be helpful to you in combination with the advice of your Dr. plus your cat is worth it. he cant help it and needs your love as much as you want rid of your allergy. There is no way to get completly rid of cat allergies, but you can see a allergy specialist to take medicenes for it. If you don't want to take meds, simply avoid cats.

There is a product that you can put into their food that changes their dander so that you're no longer allergic to it. Go to any pet store and ask them about it.
The only other way is antigen shots, which I take, and they're great. The former is much easier though!
