is it possible to have a positive herpes result 5 years after sexual contact?
Question:
Answers:
Herpes is forever. But, unless you are a pregnant female about to deliver, and are having an outbreak, actually herpes is no big deal. The outbreaks are little tiny bumps in the perianal area, somewhat painful (eased with Zoverax, a script med). Outbreaks lessen as you age, and are shorter.... 7-14 days, maybe 1 or twice ever three years if you are average. And, you likely are not shedding the virus when you are not having an outbreak, (but the drug companies who sell stuff would have you believe otherwise, but then they are in the business of creating a market aren't they, even where one really doesn't exist........)

Yes it is possible, herpes does not go away. You may not have a break out for a long time, but it doesnt just go away. Sorry.
Herpes, even Type 1, will give a positive result.
So if you kissed someone that had oral herpes, and you did not have them previously you could get them.
It isn't just the sexual kind that come up positive on a test.
If you are talking sexual herpes, as in genital herpes, then yes it is also positive. You could have been an asymptomatic carrier for many years...
Yes, it is possible. Once you have the herpes virus it remains in your system. You may not have any visual signs on the skin (outbreaks) but the virus will remain in your system and outbreak can occur once triggered by various factors.
