I am a diabetic and yes it does affect your eyesight. the medication you take helps keep your sugar down. When you get blurry vision the sugar is spilling into your eyes . Picture water filling up or spilling into your eyes and the water is making your vision blurry. that is the affect sugar has on your eyes, and after time it can cause permanent damage and even blindness,it is called retinopathy. check out this site.

That's very unusual for it to be THAT extreme. However, just the headaches alone from high bloodsugar can indeed affect your eyesight. Also, high bloodsugar causes blood vessels to grow rapidly across the Retinas of one's eyes; Diabetic Retinopathy. Chances for glaucoma increase as eyesight gets worse, due to a change in shape of the eye. Some eyesight CAN be saved IF the person stabilizes their bloodsugars before permanent damage is done.

Diabetic Retinopathy causes microaneurysms in the retina which causes blockages. The body makes new vessels but they are much more fragile. The leak blood and fluid into the eye and in severe cases can cause blindness.
diabetes thickens the blood,,,the capillaries in the eye are very small, thusly the flow is hampered. and it is a very very serious disease.. I know a person that has lost eyesight..he still sees some shadows.all kinds of scary things. limb amputation..piece by piece.maybe today's meds might help restore vision in some cases..
Diabetes can effect your eyesight and if your friend was recently put on meds for diabetes the meds can effect your vision temporarily. I would wait a few days and their vision should be back to normal in about a week or so if not then he they need to make an appointment with his eye doctor. Also diabetics should have their vision check every 6 months.
Yes it can. If sugar rises to high vision becomes blurry, can even fade. There can also be bleeding behind the eyes. Most of the time these things can happen with no symptoms until it has become quiet bad. It is best to see an ophthamologist at least once a year for a diabetic retinopathy check
