Swollen Lips, could be and allergic reaction.?

Question:
About a week ago, my lips were very chapped. They had little tiny bumps all over them so I started using carmex thinking i was getting a cold sore. Right now today, they hurt like made. They have gotten bigger. They feel rough, dry and cracked even though I have smeared Carmex all over them. They are swollen now and I can't close my mouth. Did I have an allergic reaction to something?

Answers:
All i can tell you is that i suffer the same problem and is because I´m allergyc to some medicines.
Iwould try some blistek on them and go see the doctor.
(I also used to use Ice on them to ease the pain but nowadays I just avoid medications that can activate the allergy)

Other Answers:
try going to the doctor, it might be an allergic reaction, but i have no other idea what it can be.go to the doctor, to get the best results.
Sounds like it, or you were bit or sun burned.

OK, Carmex has menthol in it and it is an irritant. Carmex is also addictive. Try some blistex. Also take a benadryl if you have one to take down the swelling.

Good luck.
Stop using the Carmex that could be the problem
Try using something less irratating than Carmex.
Carmex has some things in it that can make you lips sore.
Try one of the Blistek products they make several types.
You could be allergic to many things but one of the symptoms is swelling in the lips.
Definately go to a Dr and get it checked out. Swollen lips could be the result of an infection or disease - and also could be a reaction to using Carmex. Stop using the Carmex immediately - until you get a Dr's appointment - if the swelling subsides - thee is a good chance it was form the Carmex itself. The fact you had blisters, etc before using Carmex is an indicator something is medically wrong.
try to c a doc asap. it may b virus attack. i encountered it two times. there were small tiny bumps round my upper lip. i thought it was cold sore at first. until it get real swollen and juice was coming out from the wound. the docs told mi tat it was a virus attack.
