what is frozen shoulder, arm goes to sleep every 5 min?

Question:
I have a painful shoulder, apparently frozen or torn tendons, why does my arm fall asleep all the time, and what can be done to allieviate pain, ( I am allergic to codiene), just had ultrasound yesterday.

Answers:
What is the diagnosis? And why is it not being treated? Ultra sound is not the therapy indicated, if there are torn tendons. Suggesting this is not the case. Neuresthenia (going to sleep) indicates there is pressure on the brachial nerve to the arm. This would indicate considerable inflamatory process is involved and causing spastic muscles thru which that nerve must pass. Thereby causing the nerve pressure.

Would suggest you find someone to give an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Indications suggest you have slipped a tendon out of the grove and the irritation has brought about a high level of inflamatory process. May get needed treatment from your local chiropractor.. The shoulder has to be loosened to allow freedom from the neuresthenia.

frozen shoulder is the term given to Peri arthritis of shoulder joint. in this condition there is inflammation of the surrounding soft tissues of the shoulder joint. movements mostly restricted are overhead movements, movement to side and external rotation of shoulder. its causes can be due to injury, but it most cases it is idiopathic, that is just happens. it is a self limiting condition and takes a month to recover. Ur arm falls asleep because u r probably sleeping on Ur arm that causes the nerve to compress and leads to sleeping arm. it can also be caused by severe pain that u are experiencing. for pain relief i would suggest any non steroidal anti inflammatory drug and a muscle relaxant. hot packs are also very helpful. consult a physical therapist. physiotherapy will hasten Ur recovery period.
