People living with arrhythmia?

Question:
I'm trying to learn more about arrhythmia. More specifically, bradycardia and atrial fibrilation. What is it like living with this? What is treatment for it, besides medication? I'm taking Tikosyn, does it make anyone else feel sick? Is it ever debilitating, like you don't have the energy to do anything? And are people with AF at risk for heart attacks or heart failure? Any help would be appreciated.

Answers:
If you are on any meds that make you feel bad..talk with your physician. There are several individual and combined drugs that can be used. A problem with atrial fib is a higher risk of emboli (blod clots), not to mention the possibility of a rapid heart rate if the A-fib is not controlled. The emboli can be a reason for a blood clot in the heart, the lungs, the brain. The good news is that most people can have a normal life with the proper meds and under the watchful care of their physician. Yes, be concerned..but do NOT panic and please try not to waste your time on the "could be's. Talk with your physician, saying in detail what you are feeling and experiencing. Follow your doctor's recommendations and then.get on with the business of living.

Other Answers:
I have mitral regurgitation (some of the blood flows back into the heart). At the beginning (when I discovered it), I felt really tired but the doctor said it was normal for someone with MR and that I didn't need medication. But if later; years later . if things got really bad, surgery would be needed to replace the flap (with pig skin) . YUCK.
