What is the treatment to get someone off of loritab and or xanax?

the first question would be, why was he prescribed these in the first place. xanax, or Alprazolam, a very addictive benzodiazipine, which is used to treat long term anxiety, should really have not have been preacribed. my advice is to go back to your GP and ask about a anti anxiolytic (just like benzodiazipines) but not addictive called Buspirone. If declines, he is not acting in your best interests, as benzos are addictive, be synical and think about the money your Dr is getting. if so see another GP. he may well forward you to a mental health practioner. with regards to the tramadol, im afraid there is nothing better to be on for that type of pain. codiene possibly, again , you would have tyo speake to your prescriber.
whoa ..you said xanax.like it has two x in it and stuff
I had to go to detox for 5 days to get off Xanax and it was hell. You need medical help because you will seriously question your sanity and will need to be monitored closely.Good luck.
This is a difficult situation.

If there is an addiction it needs to be handled by a physician.

Sudden withdrawal of either of these medications after long term use can cause seizures, pain, cramping, vomiting, coma, and even death.

This type of intensive sudden detox should only be handled by detox experts overseen by a Physician.

Not something to mess around with. Get professional help.

Usually a Dr. will have the patient gradually decrease the dosage of one medication until you can go off it, then the other. Decrease means TINY increments. Like cut the pills into quarters and decrease the dose by one quarter each dose time for a week, then one quarter less each dose time for the next week, etc., until you can quit without danger.
If your talking about "detox" then you need professionals, they are in your area I'm sure. It's best you contact them, not us and find out what procedures you need to get into a program for detox.
Dunno about loritab, but the only thing you do with xanax is just taper off it and suffer withdrawal. Every other benzo lets you switch to another to get off them except Xanax.
