Is it harmful to your health to perpetually take anti-malaria medicine?


Question:
I currently live in San Salvador, El Salvador but often go into higher risk malaria prone areas. Is it better health wise to take anit-malaria medicine for years and years or hope for the best and that my body will create anitbodies to fight this disease?

It is impossible to create antibodies against malaria.

You need these drugs for prevention, unfortunately.
Malaria is caused by small parasites who live in red blood cells. The infamous fever episodes are the result of decaying red blood cells.

No one is able to become immune against malaria.
