Sprain/ Strain with bulging laterally?

Question:
I recently had an MRI and it stated that I have bulging laterally of the lateral collateral ligament which is thinned and partially disrupted. diffuse swelling about the right ankle. What does it mean?

Answers:
These are the supportive structures of the ankle. Thinning can occur with age but disruption generally occurs with an injury. As long as the disruption is only patial you should heal well. I would recommend doing strengthening and stretching exercises in a swimming pool where some of the weight is thus removed from the joint. You will get better! Just baby that ankle and expect relief in 4 - 6 weeks. Good luck.

Other Answers:
If you had an MRI for your LCL, it was ordered by your physician- right?

So the best person to answer your question would be your physician or your orthopaedic specialist- not random people on the Internet who do not know your specific point of injury, treatment or medical history.

Please trust your doctor- if you don't get a second opinion from another MD. Don't take the word of strangers on the Internet who don't know a darn thing about your specific condition.

I'm sure the last thing you'd want is to end up with a knee replacement.
