Do you think that there will be another epidemic of the Bubonic or Pneumonic Plague?

Question:
Yes, we would probably be able to treat it with modern day medical practices, but do you think that the black death will ever resurface?

Answers:
Many people are shocked to hear that the plague is still around.

"Human plague in the United States has occurred as mostly scattered cases in rural areas (an average of 10 to 20 persons each year). Globally, the World Health Organization reports 1,000 to 3,000 cases of plague every year."

In fact, there have been numerous plague confirmations in animals in Colorado this year.

However, with that said, I doubt that there will ever be an epidemic of plague due to advances in medicine, but nature seems to always come up with a new way to thin the population!

P.S. - Clyde, plague is caused by bacteria, not a virus. (Yersinia pestis)

Other Answers:
Many cases of the black death are reported yearly. They have come up with a cure so it will not be able to spread fast enough to cause concern so the answer is no. It was a good question though.

it's sure to . viruses mutate every day and with each change become more resistant to modern medicine . it just depends on our ability to isolate it
