How do you get a yeast infection?

I have had them happen due to taking antiniotics. They get rid of certain bacteria needed in your vagina, giving the bad bacteria free rein.
Other things can cause it too.

Her Majesty has it dead bang on, however so do the other posters. Anything that helps the yeast move from the anus or urethra to the vagina or other body parts helps spread a yeast infection.

Mine ended up under my arms, and in other dark moist places.

Yeast infections are more common than you may think. My first one was when I was about 18 years old. They can be caused by many things.back then, one reason was that we weren't wearing "breathable" underwear, like cotton. Most all undergarments now have a breathable crotch, so you shouldn't have to worry about that too much. You can also get a yeast infection when taking antibiotics. What happens is that the antibiotic "kills" the GOOD bacteria that lives in the vagina and a yeast infection occurs.

If you are young and need some assitance understanding this, talk to your mom! She's probably had one or several in her lifetime.

The best thing to do (besides talking to Mom) is go to Yahoo search and type in "yeast infections". You'll get some good information including symptoms and information on how to avoid and help cure them. Back in the olden days, it took a prescription from a doctor to get the medicine. You can now buy it over the counter at the drug store. Monistat is the best one out there. Here's a good link:

They are caused by antibiotics, or chemicals that have antibiotic action (even birth control), and can be resolved by removing the offending substances from your life, and adding probiotic foods or supplements to replenish the healthy flora that keep candida albicans at bay.

never had them my self sis has though..

go to the drug store get you some cream .. and be done with it
