I have a herpes out break eveytime I attempt to have sex. Is this common and can it be fixed? HELP!?

Question:
I was diagnosed with herpes about 1 year ago. ANd now everytime I have any kind of sexual contacy, even rubbing, I tend to get an outbreak. This is really troubling me seeing as how I would like to be able to have sex again sometime in my life!
Is there a way to prevent this? Is is possible that this will go away with time? I know several people that also have herpes and they do not have this problem. Please help me!

Just a question - is this always with the same person that you are trying to be sexually involved with or is it a different person every time? Just wondering because some people will have an outbreak when they start dating someone new or get sexually involved with someone new. This can create stress which can trigger an outbreak.

Since you have only had genital herpes for about a year chances are you will stop getting outbreaks so frequently. The longer you have the virus the less outbreaks a person will usually have. I have personally had genital herpes for over 5 years and the last outbreak I have had was over a year and a half ago.

Also, are you watching what you are eating or what might trigger an outbreak? Everyone is different, but some people will get an outbreak by what they eat or things that they do like swimming. For me, going in a jacuzzi or hot tube will trigger an outbreak. I will literally have an outbreak the very next day, but for others they have no problem with jacuzzi.

Good luck!

Are you being medicated for your symptoms, this is really the only way to prevent out breaks. Valtrex and Famvir are the two top oral meds. Since this is only the first year after your initial outbreak they eventually occur less and less.
the rubbing causes the out breaks! for sure
I have herpes on my lower back.
If I wear jeans I always get an out break..so I have to wear softer cotton pants
sitting in the car for along time causes it too
As soon as I feel like I am going to get an out break I take Valtrex, BUT because it is soo expensive I have found my solution
I get the 500mg and cut them in half
as soon as I feel an outbreak I take half then I make sure I take a half in the morning and a half at night...only for 3 or 4 days
It has saved me alot of money and the out breaks are not even noticed by me and they do not last as long..
For me the half-2 times a day for a few days (500mg) has made my life with herpes not an issue any more
There may be several physical and psychological reasons to your problem. To take care of the first obvious reason, i.e. skin irritation by friction, I would recommend you use personal lubricant each time. There is one containing carragheenan that could also reduce your chances of transmission. The second reason is you're in your first year of herpes so you are more likely to have symptoms with the slightest triggers. This usually evolves with time. Another reason could be stress. Stress puts a strong burden on the immune system opening a breach to herpes infections.
To me, the last reason is the one nobody wants to talk about, emotional triggers, fear, guilt and shame. For example, having herpes may cause a strong fear of transmitting herpes to a new partner. If you pay attention with time you'll know your emotional triggers. Maybe you don't want to have sex because you don't want to transmit the disease or you want to remain faithful to an ex-partner. Sophrology and hypnotherapy can cure that. They can help break the link between the emotional trigger and the physical reaction. One last option; it is not because you have herpes that all blisters that appear in your genital area are caused by herpes. You may want to show your symptoms to a doctor to check.
